HELMUT LANGER is specialised in cultural, environmental, institutional, and social communications projects, and has created many multicultural and global communications projects of international signification, e.g. for several UN organisations including UNESCO, UNEP, UNFCCC, UNISDR and European institutions, and milestones for global networking in aid of our planet's environment.
From 1987 to 1993, HELMUT LANGER has served as President and member of the board of the International Council of Communication Design (Icograda), since 2015 International Council of Design (ICoD), the world body and international non-governmental voice for design.
Helmut has more than 30 years profound design experience and receives international visual competence. His works are published world-wide and are represented in major international design collections, exhibitions and publications. He has received many prizes and awards at international competitions.
HELMUT LANGER has been appointed Honorary Professor (Professor honoris causa) by the Nagoya University of Arts, Japan (August 2008).
Helmut Langer is the first non-Japanese designer to receive this honorary title from the Nagoya University of Arts and the first German designer to receive such an honour from any Japanese University.
The title Professor honoris causa has been granted in recognition and appreciation of his international brilliant achievements in the field of design and of the important contribution he has made to design education at the Nagoya University of Arts.
September 2019 HELMUT LANGER has been awarded the title Honorary Professor by the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, Lima, Peru: „for his outstanding career, which has made him an important visual designer for sustainability and global communication of today“

Since many years HELMUT LANGER is a speaker at design conferences throughout the world. He is invited to pass on his experience and is teaching at various universities in Asia, Europe and Latin America, as well as juror for international design competitions. His expertise is in great demand as an advisor.

February 2019 HELMUT LANGER gave at Politecnico di Milano (one of the tops of the World University Rankings) a workshop Master Course in Communication Design. The students had to create a visual campaign for the international OCEAN POSTERS project.
The result were 12 excellent posters, with animated versions. Another enrichment within the world collection which is exhibited at the United Nations World Oceans Day platform.
17 - 22 September 2018 HELMUT LANGER was invited to Lima, Peru, to give a presentation about design for an optimistic world at the 5th International Congress DESIGN agente de cambio,
organized by the Art & Design Program of the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Lima, where he also did a workshop about the complex systems from rethink to reorient. This year other speakers came from Argentina, Brasil, Ecuador, Iran, Mexico, Peru, and USA.
18 - 23 September 2017 HELMUT LANGER gave a speech at the 4th International Congress DESIGN AS AGENT OF CHANGE, organized by the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Lima Perú. He also gave a workshop about sustainable graphic design and packaging at the university. Other speakers were from Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Iran, Mexico, Peru, Spain, and USA.
5 - 9 June 2017, United Nations Ocean Conference, New York: The international Students Poster Project SAVE THE OCEANS - Stop Plastic Pollution - curated by HELMUT LANGER - was chosen for exhibition in the United Nations Headquater during the UN Ocean Conference. It was a preview of a selection of the students posters with 35 universities and academies from all five continents. The exhibition was supported by the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations, and continued at the Ocean Pavillon of the German House, United Nations Plaza.
24 and 25 June 2017, HELMUT LANGER was invited to give a lecture at the Tendence Academy of the Messe Frankfurt, Germany. He spoke about Sustainable Design.
October 2015, HELMUT LANGER gave a Master Class Workshop at the WORLD RESOURCES FORUM in Davos (Switzerland) about Sustainable Communication Design Training. The forum had more than 600 participants from 108 countries. It was the first conference with the new logo (design Helmut Langer). It worked very successful.
August/September 2014, HELMUT LANGER is invited to join the international online jury
of the worldwide poster competition ''WORK RIGHT! - Everybody's right to fair and equal employment'',
organised by the non-profit organisation ''posterfortomorrow'', based in Paris. The project has the patronage of the Council of Europe and the French Government.
4301 posters from 131 countries are submitted.
3rd May 2015, the World Press Freedom Day UNESCO promotes it worldwide with the dove carrying a pen and simultaneously symbolising a hand. The logo unites the globally known symbols ''pen'' (= writing), ''hand'' (= voting, expressing), und ''dove'' (= freedom). The colours adapt the coding for the five continents of the Olympic rings. The graphic composition visualises the global interconnectedness: diversity shapes the common whole. The logo is international, multi-cultural, and worldwide understandable. (right column)
August 2013, HELMUT LANGER was a speaker at the forum of ''ecostyle'' - the first European trade fair for sustainable lifestyle products at Messe Frankfurt, 24 - 26 August 2013.
In his lecture ''Design or Disaster'' he explained with international images
the commitment for sustainability as THE challenge for design and communication.
The session of the forum was organised by B.A.U.M. - German Association for Environmental Management, Martin Oldeland (member of the board). Marion Fürst (Director Public Affairs, Sustainability & Science of DANONE) explained the company's consumer dialog for suatainability.

October 2010, HELMUT LANGER was invited to be the guest of honour at the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Hebei Institute of Communications University in Shijiazhuang on 16th October. He was invited to give a presentation on education of design for the environment. The university is one of the top three institutions in China that specialises in media communications. Because of respecting ecological footprint he did not fly for two days to China, instead he had sent his presentation as a video message.

The university is one of the top three instituitions in China that specialises in media communications. It has degree programs in 34 different majors including Audio/Visual, Performances, Arts, Dancing, News Broadcasting, Artistic Physical Education, Foreign Languages, Public Affairs, and Information Technology.
